Our greatest passion at Journey Baptist Church is helping people find and follow Christ and his purpose for their lives. We would love to sit down and talk to you about what it means to “know Jesus”. Feel free to reach out to us to sit down and discuss this more.
How can we know Jesus? We must understand We all have a problem. God has the solution, and You have a choice.
THE PROBLEM
The main problem that we all struggle with in life is that we are sinners. That is, we have failed God...
Romans 3:10 There is none righteous, no, not one.
Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Most of us tend to think that we are good, but this goodness is measured by our own standards. When we honestly consider God's standard (perfection) we realize we fall short.
THE SOLUTION
God's solution to our sin problem was to send Jesus. Since we could not obtain perfection, God sent perfection (Jesus). He literally took our place and suffered the penalty for our sin.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For He [God] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Jesus traded places with us. To accomplish for us what we could not do on our own. He paid the price for our sin.
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
THE CHOICE
The choice we all must make is this, what are we going to do with the free gift that God is offering us in Jesus? We can choose to say no and go our own way, or we can choose to accept the free life and forgiveness that he is offering. To accept his offer, we must respond to him in faith.
John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:9-10 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
If you believe that you have failed God and are in need of a savior. Turn to him in prayer right now and in your own words let him know that you are accepting his offer of salvation by putting your trust in him and what he did for you. If you just prayed and ask Jesus to save you, let us know so we can help you grow in that decision.
